Upgrading Domain names for two of my blogs

    Hello,

    I want to upgrade two of my blogs so that ‘wordpress’ is out of the url. By paying the addtional $17 per year, I just want to veryify that anyone logging onto yachtingpokershark.com will see that url in the address bar. There seems to be a question about the wording of ‘re-directing’.

    Hey there!

    When you purchase domain mapping and choose to make your new domain the primary address for your blog then you are absolutely correct in saying that your readers will only see that new purchased domain (i.e. myblog.com instead of myblog.wordpress.com). The notion of redirecting then comes into play when someone tries to visit your old .wordpress.com address, as they will then be automatically redirected to your new, purchased domain.

    So, your current blog URL is http://yachtingpokershark.wordpress.com/. By purchasing domain mapping, yachtingpokershark.com visitors to your blog will see the new yachtingpokershark.com address. As per the example above, when they try to visit yachtingpokershark.wordpress.com they’ll be redirected to yachtingpokershark.com.

    You will continue, regardless of your primary blog URL, to access your dashboard at http://yachtingpokershark.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ (yachtingpokershark.com/wp-admin/ will redirect you there), but, again, this isn’t something visible to your readers.
