Upgrading from Free to Business

  My company is looking to upgrade it’s wordpress site which is hosted on it’s own domain to a business account. We don’t currently have a wordpress.com username setup so would we just create a new username and then be able to connect our business wordpress site to the that username and then be given all of the premium features? I hope that makes sense.

  WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers. However, mapping to an existing domain is possible. I’ll tag this thread for Staff who will guide you through the process.

  I’ll post the process for you below.

  You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard and purchase upgrades at > Store > My Upgrades
  Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
  Your options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

  You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year. Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading

  Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.   Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

  Hello Robbie!

  Yes, that’s possible. What I would do is create an account with us and set up a new blog where your site will be contained.

  https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/

  Then, export the contents of your website and import it into your WordPress.com blog.

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/#importing-content-from-another-platform-or-wordpress-blog

  Afterwards, go ahead and upgrade to a Business account by purchasing the upgrade from our store.

  And finally, map the domain to your blog.
