Upgrading from free to Personal

    1) Will existing ABC.wordpress.com references be redirected to the ABC.com URL and 2) Will I benefit from additional traffic/indexing (Google searches) in any way? Please elaborate.

    Hi there,

    1) All links on your site at the free address is automatically redirected to your domain, yes.

    2) Not really. Having a custom domain has more value from a branding perspective than from an SEO one. Better branding could lead to more people clicking on your link and linking to your site, though, which can help in how search engines index your site.

    If you add a custom domain you will also experience a drop in search engine traffic at first while search engines re-index your site at the new domain, but then it should return to the same level it was before the change.
