Upgrading from 'Personal' to 'Premium'

I am looking to upgrade from free to the ‘personal’ plan in the next few days. Assume I then want to upgrade to ‘Premium’ in 3 months’ time. Would I get credit for 9/12ths of the money paid for the ‘Personal’ and allocate it towards 12 months of the ‘Premium’ plan? Or would I just loose out on the monies I paid for the ‘personal’ and then pay the full amount of ‘Premium’?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

If you buy Personal now, and upgrade to Premium in 3 months’ time, you’ll only pay the difference in cost between the two plans, and your Premium Plan will be valid for a full year from when you buy it.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Thanks for your explanation. Presumably, you are a WordPress representative? So I am ok to take your word as gospel?

    Many thanks,
    George

  • I am on the support team at WordPress.com, yes, and this is how it works, or is supposed to at any rate :)

Should you upgrade in a few months and the system charges you the full cost of Premium, let us know, and refer to this conversation, and we’ll sort things out for you.

Keep in mind that if you upgrade to Premium as your Personal plan is about to expire, you will be charged the full cost at that point.
