Upgrading/ moving an expiring domain from GoDaddy
-
My agreement with GoDaddy is about to expire and I would like to cut out them of the loop and give wordpress my $$$ for domain hosting, instead of having it hosted there and pointing here.
Do I need to wait until my service with them has expired fully or can I upgrade my WordPress acct. to begin domain hosting before that? Would this involve repointing the nameservers at Godaddy and then letting that account drift away?
I understand I’ll lose my email service but can set one up again at google with to work with a wordpress domain…
Any other things I should consider before attempt this?
Thanks

Hi. You can follow this procedure at any time:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/And this his how you can use Google Apps:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/Friendly advice: NEVER let your domain name expire with the hopes that you can buy it from WordPress.com later on. Someone else may buy it before you in order to resell it.
