Upgrading my account

I have a free site and think I want to upgrade to a personal site. The reason is because I don’t want any ads … sponsored or wordpress … to be seen. I don’t need a website or anything else. Will the $5 a month personal upgrade do this for me?

Yes, it will. You will not see ads on your site of any sort with the Personal plan. You will also get the ability to use a custom domain name, have access to email support, and more media storage space.
Is the removal of ads your biggest reason for upgrading? Or do you have any other site ideas that might be helped with a different WordPress.com plan? For example, I notice you are using an old retired theme that doesn’t take advantage of larger sizes and higher resolutions of today’s screens. One nice thing about, for example, the Premium plan is that it gives you access to all of our Premium themes as well as our free themes. While I love our free themes, I have to admit there are some very cool premium themes too:

Thank you. This is very helpful. And yes, for now it is just the ads I want to eliminate. I will look at other themes once I’m settled on reigniting my blog.
