Upgrading Plan

  If I upgrade to change the URL without having the “wordpress” as part of it, wat will happen once i cancel the subscription and want to go back to the free domain. How will that affect my website? Will it change or ruin something?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hey fminthemf,

  When you cancel your subscription, your website will return to the old URL having WordPress.com in it.

  And of course, it will impact the SEO because the pages and posts will get indexed with your custom domain name but it won’t be available once you decide to cancel the plan.

  I wouldn’t recommend you do it. You can keep going with WordPress.com to enjoy the quality features. And the best part is that you get 24*7 live chat and email support with a paid plan.

  Hi fminthemf,

  Cancelling a custom domain won’t affect the content or media on your site, that will still be available at your free address.

  Links to the custom domain in search results would be break because that domain would no longer be in use. Over time, search engines will re-index your content at the free address and add that to their results — although it may be possible to speed up the process using Google’s change of address tool.
