Upgrading to a newer version.
-
I am out of my depth, it seems. I have been trying to use the “more” feature and it wont work. It appears that I must upgrade my current version to do this. I have never upgraded–my bad–since I began using wordpress.com. How do I find my version? I don’t think I am getting automatic updates so I must have a version earlier than 2.7+. Ok, so my second question is who is my webhost? I thought it was WordPress. But I am not sure–I access the web on my MAC via Safari. If my webhost is WordPress, then PHP and MySQL must be up to standard and I can move on—Is that correct.
I would like to move on to Automatic scheduled back ups on WordPress. Then to the automatic WordPress version updates. I need to know the answers to my several questions above. I would appreciate one of you experts to guide this novice to a successful backup and upgrade. Thanks

Since you are self-hosted you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where the self-hosted version is supported. It could be that you will have to do an interim upgrade (or two) before moving to the latest version.
