  If I upgrade will the web address be the same and end in wordpress.com?

  Hi there, the personal plan will give you a free one-year credit for either a domain registration or transfer, which would allow you to remove the .wordpress.com part if you wanted to. After one year, regular domain pricing applies. Most .com domains are $18/year including privacy, but you can see full pricing here:

  So I go to the site, go to upgrade and the personal account, pay for a year but the site address and all that’s on there just carries on as it has been?

  You can keep the site address as is, but all paid plans do come with one free custom domain registration if you want to.
