upgrading to a personal plan ($4 a month)

when I select a plan and choose the .com selection for the free domain, the domain comes up with dashes between the words in the domain name. Do those dashes remain in the domain name after i pay for it. It seems that the dashes will only go away if I pay for a year for the domain. Is this true?

  • Hi there!

If you don’t see the exact subdomain that you typed in the search results, it means that the address is unavailable. You’ll see suggestions for similar addresses, like the dashes.
To give you an example, it may be that the site mygroovysite.wordpress.com is taken so you’ll see a suggestion to register my-groovy-site.wordpress.com (or another of your choice), or register a custom domain mygroovydomain.com that may be available.

All our subscriptions are charged annually, so if you decide to purchase a custom domain, you’ll need to pay for the whole year upfront.

You can find more information about domains here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/

Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.
