Upgrading to Business

  Hi,

  I have created a free blog: https://permidorg.wordpress.com
  After I get the business budget approval I want to migrate it to a Premium/Business account (300$ per year plan).

  My questions:
  1. Will I be able to point to this blog from my site/domain, for example: blog.<my site>.com ?
  2. After the transition will I be able to upload my own custom design (add to existing themes)?
  3. Will all my preferences, users and posts will be copied transparently?
  4. What are the support functions? Is there a direct email/call center?
  5. Is there a backup option? Snapshots of the blog form previous x days, so they can be recovered if the blog breaks for any reason.

  In general, here’s what’s included in the $299/year Business bundle: https://store.wordpress.com/plans/business/

  1. The custom domain name (yoursite.com) will replace yoursite.wordpress.com. If you already have a site hosted somewhere else using a custom domain and want your WPcom site to reside at blog.yoursite.com you can do that as well.

  2. No upgrade on WordPress.com will allow you to upload a 3rd party theme. You can however customize one of the free or Premium themes found here https://theme.wordpress.com/ The Business bundle includes the use of all WordPress.com’s Premium themes for the lifetime of your site on WordPress.com.

  3. Not entirely clear. If you are importing an existing self-hosted WP site, please read here for what is ported over. https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/coming-from-self-hosted/ For other imports see here and the related posts in the sidebar: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

  4. These are the support options available to all users https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/ Business bundle users have additional options listed there.

  5. Read here about backups. https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/#backups While WPcom does backup your site, you do not have any control/input about the frequency. You can of course export a copy of your site from time-to-time which will include everything but media files, which you should back up yourself.
