Upgrading to business

  I would love to move my blog from a Typepad to a WordPress Business account. Can you tell me if there are tools via WordPress that make this a seamless and easy process? I am a photographer so this blog would have many images as well as copy to import both. Before upgrading I need to know the process. Thank you so much.

  Hi there,

  The difficult part is going to be getting your content exported from Typepad. You will need an XML export file of your Typepad content. I think you can export such a file directly from Typepad, but if not, you’ll need to convert whatever type of export they give you into the correct format.

  We also have a file size limit of 15 MB on import files, so if the export provided by Typepad is bigger than that, you’ll need to use an xml splitter to break it up into smaller pieces.

  Once you have the export files you can import them at Tools ->Import in the WP-Admin dashboard. Once each import completes we’ll attempt to fetch your images from the source site as well, so make sure the old site is still online and don’t delete anything until you are sure all images have been transferred.

  You don’t need to upgrade in order to import content, so I suggest you try importing first, before buying any upgrades here.
