upgrading to custom design / theme sunspot not available with own domain/host??

Hi, I have registered domain name and hosting through hostgator and expecting to use theme´sunspot´ with the upgrade of custom design as being available in the default wordpress.com version that I was “exercising” on. Now it is no longer available in the new version of my domain name though it is the sunspot theme I have chosen and also a limited amount of other themes are available. why is that?
My wish was to use this custom design with my own domain and host. Is that not possible with this combination or how do I make it happen?
    thank you / AK

  • If you would like host your own site on Hostgator, you’ll need to install WordPress.org yourself and upload the theme to your server.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different things, which you can learn more about here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

If you go the WordPress.com route, you don’t need to obtain hosting, and can choose from the themes we provide, but you can’t upload a third-party theme.

It’s up to you which route you want to go, depending on your needs. If you need further clarification, just let me know.
