You can ask the questions here on this forum, there are many friendly people who would love to answer. :)

Ok, cool! I am looking to have my members (followers of the blog) build out profiles that can be viewed, is this available?
Also for the e-commerce, are there any additional administration fees that are applied?
What are the overall benefits of wordpress compaired to something like a squarespace?
-
If I understand your first question correctly: the people who follow your blog already have profiles that can be viewed, but this is the basic WordPress.com profile system. For example: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/blissfulmamas
E-commerce: what e-commerce are you talking about exactly? The WordPress Premium package does not include anything e-commerce related.
Benefits: hmm…. it’s hard to say. It really depends on your needs. You should basically just try WordPress for free and if you like it, upgrade to a package where you can do more. If you don’t like it, you could look into Squarespace to see if that matches your needs in a better way.
Do a Google search for “WordPress vs Squarespace” and you should be able to find the main differences. However, whether those differences are benefits or not, in general, only you wil be able to answer that.

thank you for your response. I want people visiting our blog to be able to set up a profile on our page to be viewed by others. Do you know if the business version allows this? I have seen it on other blogs out there but cannot figure it out on the current one..
the premium business package claims to offer e-commerce, like if we wanted to host an event and sell tickets, etc..

I’m not sure that we’re talking about the same thing. According to WordPress.com, the description of the Premium package is as follows:
Save up to 40% on our most popular upgrades. Get all of these great features to super-charge your blog in one simple purchase. Includes a domain name of your choice or domain mapping for an existing domain, VideoPress, Custom Design, 10GB Space Upgrade, and No Ads
.
I don’t see e-commerce is there…can you tell me where you saw that?

See here for the Premium bundle details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/
Note that the free plan and the Premium plan do not allow you to upload your own themes or plugins. WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions unless they have the $299. per year Business upgrade. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/ecommerce-is-now-available-on-wordpresscom?replies=1
See here for ecommerce details http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/If you intend to set up some type of member registration site an provide usernames, profiles and passwords that cannot be done on a WordPress.COM blog. A self-hosted WordPress site might be right for you because you can do that on any WordPress.ORG install.
WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
