Upgrading to Premium

  • Unknown's avatar

I am about to use up the free 3GB of space provided to upload media on my blog (photos in particular).

I need extra space soon to upload more photos into my blog, and I believe the only way is to pay 99 dollars a year in order to get more space along with other perks. As I will only require more space to upload photos, are there packages where I pay solely for extra storage space?

If not, how much do I need to pay to go Premium as I have recently renew my annual 18 dollars subscription to keep my domain name?

Thank you very much for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy!

Extra storage space is only available through the Premium plan. Along with other upgrades, it provides 13 GB of space and allows video and audio files in addition to images.

I see where you recently renewed your domain name. If you’ll purchase the Premium plan I’d be happy to associated the domain with the premium upgrade and refund the cost of that recent renewal. Just let me know after you’ve made the purchase. :)

The Premium plan is $99 per year, per site. You can find more details about the plan here:

    Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for your reply!

Once I become a Premium user, may I know what will happen if I did not renew it the next year? For example, will the media I uploaded on top of the 3Gb free space be deleted or something?

Will the same thing apply if I become a Premium member but then chose to pay 18USD to renew my domain name alone the next year?

I also would like to know if I choose to be a Premium user, do I get an extra 13Gb each year? Meaning I get another another 13Gb of storage space once I renew my Premium plan for the second year.

With the Premium plan, do I get full access and control for the CSS on my blog? As in, I will be able to tweak the CSS codes, include custom widgets, advertisements etc?

    Thanks for your help.

If you don’t renew the Premium plan, but you have over 3 GB in your media library, your files will remain accessible and not deleted, but you would be unable to upload new files until either the plan was re-subscribed or you deleted files from your media library to below 3 GB.

Will the same thing apply if I become a Premium member but then chose to pay 18USD to renew my domain name alone the next year?

You can choose to renew the domain separately and not renew the Premium plan.

No, it’s not an incremental sort of thing. The Premium plan costs $99 per year, per blog and includes 13 GB of storage space. Renewing the plan doesn’t add more space, it keeps your service active for the same 13 GB.

The next step up from 13GB is our Business plan ($299 per year) with unlimited storage space.

With the Premium plan, do I get full access and control for the CSS on my blog? As in, I will be able to tweak the CSS codes, include custom widgets, advertisements etc?

You’ll have full access to the CSS, but not HTML or backend WordPress files. Read here about the CSS options:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/

This wouldn’t allow you to create custom widgets.

Advertisements are not allowed on WordPress.com except for our program WordAds. Affiliate links to reputable sellers are allowed, but not attached to images. Read more on that here:

    Hi Alex,

    I just upgraded to Premium.

May I know how will the 18USD be refunded?

    Thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve initiated the $18 refund. It will be processed through the same account you used to purchase the Premium plan.

It may take about a week for that refund to appear on your bank account, but you can see it in your billing history here:

Thank you very much for the 18usd refund.

Now that I am a Premium user, may I know how do I increase the width of my blog so that I could increase the size of my font and my photos will become larger?

    Thanks!

I would suggest updating your theme if you want an overall larger look for your site. The Kelly theme in particular has a much larger content area and font.

Or you can change your font size through the Customizer in the Fonts pane. Here’s some information about changing your fonts:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/#adjusting-font-size-and-style

As for increasing the width of your site, that can get sort of messy because of the way the various sections of your website work. If you’d like to make this change to your current theme instead of using a different theme, post your request over in the CSS forum and a CSS guru will help you out!

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

Make sure to include the specific site and theme you’re customizing and be as specific as possible about the exact parts of your site you’d like to change. :)
