Upgrading to Premium plan
-
Hello, I have recently bought a domain for one year from WordPress.
Now, if I upgrade to the premium plan which includes one year of domain registration, I understand that be added on to the domain name duration. That is, once I upgrade to premium, even though the plan is only for one year, domain name registration will be at two years. Please confirm.

Hi there,
What’s the domain you’re referring to?
Please note that if you already have a domain registered through our service (WordPress.com) and you upgrade to a plan it isn’t extended for another year.
This only applies for domains transferred to WordPress.com after you have purchased a plan.

The domain is “thelawyerwhobakes.com”.
I don’t understand. I sincerely want to understand this correctly.
Now, if I buy a domain outright alongwith a premium subscription, the first year domain registration is included with the premium subscription. Same is the case if I transfer my domain to wordpress as you stated.
I have two questions in this light:
1. Shouldn’t I be eligible to get a 1 year extension on a domain if I buy premium subscription after I already bought a domain? (brand loyalty)
OR
2. at least a commensurate amount of discount on the premium subscription charges since I’m not getting the benefit of one year extension of domain registration?
In conclusion, you’d offer the one year extension to attract new customers, but won’t do so to retain existing customers? Sounds counter-intuitive.

Hi there!
Thank you for all the details. We’ll be happy to refund the price of the domain after you have purchased the plan.
You can go on and upgrade and then reach out directly via live chat from the account in question. You can also let us know here, but in that case, please reply from the accountchandrasekhar318gmailcomas that is the one that owns the domain subscription.
