Upgrading to version 2.8 from 7.0

I have a Netsol Hosting Package. I just installed a WP blog with version 2.7. I want to upgrade to 2.8 before doing anything else. The problem is that I get an error message when trying to do it “automatically”. I am asked for the Hostname, Ussername, Password & and Connection type. I am typing the url for my blog, and the username and password which were registered with WP. Connection type being FTPS (SSL). I get an error message: “There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct.” I have tried various combinations and do not know what else to do. Can anyone please help? I am fairly new at this. Upgrade, wordpress, 2.8.
