Hi rensfibreart,
rensfibreart.wordpress.com can be upgraded to the Business plan. This process will upgrade the site itself rather than unlocking/adding new features to the Twenty Ten theme.
You can see which site features (additional storage space, custom plugins and themes etc) would be added by upgrading from My Sites > Plans:
I’ll be here if you have any questions.

Thank you so much… I really wasn’t keen to build a whole new site as Twenty Ten has served me well so far…

Hi there,
I just want to note that Twenty Ten is a very old theme, and has been retired on WordPress.com as it does not work well on mobile devices. That means while you can still use it, we no longer update it, and if something breaks it will not be fixed.
The Twenty Sixteen theme has a very similar design to Twenty Ten, but it’s fully responsive and has support for the newest features, so please do consider that.

Thanks for that… I do know that Twenty ten is retired but will I be able to recreate the same look with Twenty Sixteen… I’m not all that tech savvy & a bit timid to rebuild the whole thing again… however, I will indeed take you advice & have another good look
-
Twenty Sixteen is not exactly the same, but it has the same general structure and feel to it, and for the most part you shouldn’t have to re-do all that much.
If you go to My Site ->Themes and search for Twenty Sixteen you can select the Try and Activate option. That will open a preview of your site with the new theme in the Customizer without actually switching the theme, and should give you a good idea what it will look like.

Thanks Kokkleh, I took your advice & changed to twenty sixteen… it’s very similar to twenty ten just a lot cleaner… I did have a few dramas with photos, in both posts & pages, going AWOL but all in all very happy to have changed over, it also gave me the opportunity to clean out broken links & such…
one thing I don’t like is the mass of wordpress symbols at the bottom of the pages… do you know how to remove these… if not.. I can learn to live with them…
again many thanks -

Oh no! Changing themes shouldn’t do that at all. Let me know if you want us to look into this further.

That is a menu. It looks like somehow a list of all categories on your site was added as a menu, in the social links menu area – that menu is intended for links to your social media accounts.
You already have a Categories widget in your sidebar, so you don’t need a menu as well, so we can just remove that.
Go to My Site ->Design ->Customize. Click on Menus ->Menu locations, and under Social Links menu, click on Post Finder and change that so there’s nothing selected. Then click Publish at the top of the Customizer.
That should do it.

Clever duck… done… thanks – (I used that menu before I found the navigation widget, then forgot about it, oops!) – very happy now
I sort of figured out the photo mess… it was more about pics not sticking neatly & appearing all over the page.. got around that by making galleries where I could
Now to upgrade to Business so I can set up a shop… still dithering with this
Thanks so much for your help, much appreciated

Hi rensfibreart,
Great to hear you are all set and Twenty Sixteen is working out nicely.
Now to upgrade to Business so I can set up a shop…
There are several eCommerce options available on WordPress.com. Upgrading to the Business plan means WooCommerce can be installed and used to create your online shop. Just let us know if you have any questions about that :)
