Upgrage Plan Type

Hi-
I’m looking to upgrade from the Free Plan to Premium Plan. With the Premium Plan, it mentions you get your own domain name. It would want that to be melsmosaic.com. I already own that domain name (and therefore pay for it). How would get/merge that domain name under both WordPress and current ownership of the domain? Also, how would I merge them without having to pay for my current ‘ownership’ (not sure if that is the right word) and the upgrade of plan via WordPress (though there are many other benefits I want with the upgrade).Thanks and hope that make sense.

You would just set up Domain Mapping for that domain.
Domain Mapping is the upgrade that need to use a domain registered elsewhere with your WordPress.com site. WordPress.com Premium includes either a domain registration or domain mapping. So you would not need to pay anything extra.

Thanks. Do I still have to pay to own the domain name the way I currently do, or can that be overridden with this package? If that is redundant, please let me know. I might just be confused on the terminology. I currently pay every 2 years for the domain and used to use emails the site provided but not anymore.

You would need to continue to pay for yearly domain registration at your domain registrar.
