Upload photos and word document to media library which |I’ve done several times before but now it’s not working

Hi there,
Do you upload directly to the library in the WP-Admin dashboard, or via the Add Media button when you write a post or a page? Can you please try clearing your browser cache and cookies and check if that makes any difference?

Miraculously after putting the question everything went back to working as it should! (after over a week of not) but thanks very much for your reply and I’ll bear it in mind when the system next starts playing up.

That actually confirms that it was likely your browser. If your browser automatically refreshed the cache (which they do periodically) that could have un-stuck whichever cached file was causing the connection problem.
If it happens again and clearing the cache does not do the trick, please let me know.
