Upload plugin to WP-content
-
Hi..
I have some problems with uploading plugins into my WP site. Can somebody help me? I am normally used to blogger, where you just copy the HTML when you need a new feature, so I have some problems learning WP! But it just look much more proffesionally, so hope somebody can lean me to use WP, so I can customize my site a bit.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t use plugins in wp.com blogs. First check Appearance>Widgets for useful sidebar items. There’s a lot that can be done with Text widgets, which accept html (but no javascript or flash).

Are you asking about the wordpress.com blog in your profile? Plugins cannot be used on wordpress.com:

This page states plugins are allowed and provides an events calendar plugin for downloading.
I cannot figure out what they’re talking about–it looks like they skipped step 1 in the instructions in regards to how to upload. I don’t have anything in my dashboard that allows me to upload, and I tried going to the directory but it’s blank.

I’m assuming this is only applicable to privately hosted sites.
It’s unfortunate this isn’t terribly clear before people start their blogs.

audbene, please read http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
You can NOT use plugins on wordpress.com. -
audbene, before signing up for any service due diligence should be observed. There is http://en.wordpress.com/features/ telling you what you can do on wordpress.com and also http://en.support.wordpress.com, the latter prominently displaying wordpress.COM vs. wordpress.ORG.

Welcome message from wordpress:
Your WordPress.com API key allows you to use services like Akismet @ http://akismet.com/
****************
So I went to akismet.com and followed the steps. Now I find that plugins are not allowed?!? -
Akismet is automatically used on all WordPress.com blogs.
If you have an external site, you get to use Akismet with the API you got with your registration here.
Why don’t you tell us what you want to accomplish? Not “install plugins” but “get to result that I think the plugin will give me”. Then we can tell you how to get that result with a WordPress.com blog.
In this particular case, you don’t need to do anything: it’s already done.

How do I include the Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook logos on my outgoing blogs?
From http://blogplay.com/sociable-for-wordpress/ it appears easy to do, but I don’t see how to upload the .zip file to wordpress to make it work.
My blog is new and at http://davidgwick.wordpress.com. Thanks.
