Upload theme help

  Hi, I have purchased my domain and now i have downloaded a theme that i want to use. However, i dont seem to be able to have an upload section in the theme directory, as all the instructions are telling me.

  Can anyone help? I thought once I purchased my domain then I have more choice of themes and layout but that doesnt seem to have happened.

  Hello,

  You may be a little confused about the differences, benefits and limitations of WordPress.com, WordPress, and WordPress.org. It’s very easy (trust me) to get confused. To read more about the differences and their uses, go to: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  With my knowledge, the only way I know of uploading a theme is if you actually have a self-hosted WordPress blog. You need to have your own hosting account to do this. As stated from the link above:

  WordPress.com (Self-Hosted):

  – Ability to upload themes
  – Ability to upload plugins
  – Great community
  – Complete control to change code if you’re technically minded

  If you are using WordPress.com, as stated from the link above:

  – We provide 100+ themes (and adding more every day) which you can modify and edit the CSS, but you cannot run a custom theme*
  – You can’t hack the PHP code behind your blog*
  – You can’t upload plugins

  Your purchased a domain name and domain mapping and that’s all you get – nothing more. This is clearly stated in support documentation:

  Same Terms of Service – The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not permit the use of any kind of prohibited code or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required to abide by our Terms of Service. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/#important-notes-before-upgrading

  The only themes you can use on your free hosted WordPress.com blog are those found here > Appearance > Themes

  So, I am in the same problem. How do I go about making it so I CAN install an outside theme?

  There is no upgrade you can purchase that allows you to install a third party theme on a free hosted WordPress.com blog – period. If that’s what you want to do then you must hire a web hosting service, set up a WordPress.org install for self hosting and move all your content into it.
