Upload to multiple folders?

I know how to set the folder where the uploads go from wordpress. My question is if there are any plugins available, or any minor tweaks that would allow me to have a separate folder for each category.
Also, I’m looking for some kind of plugin that would restrict authors to only post in the category they are assigned(assuming the plugin would let me assign restrictions for users). That way the author would have their own upload folder, that only they would have access to.
Basically, my reasoning is because I started a music site/blog, where each category is a different artist. When everyone uploads to the same folder, their music becomes available to everyone, and some artists won’t want that. Also, I don’t want an artist starting new posts in other people’s category/pages. Comments are fine anywhere, I just don’t want authors/artists to have the ability to post new topics wherever they want, and have access to all the music on the site that’s not theirs.
