Uploaded graphic files not appearing.

  I have tried to upload an image from my files onto a post, but the size appears as 0 x 0, the tiny thumbnail in the uploading window is empty, and nothing I’ve done has changed it. DPI 150. Not a big file. This seems like a WordPress glitch. Is it? It has never happened before and this is not a new site or a newbie user.
