Uploaded images format strangely in post – help!

    Hello,

I’ve been having trouble (with 2 themes so far) uploading images into my posts. I want my blog to be highly image-based, but I cannot seem to upload pictures one-right-after-another, otherwise the captions and photos combine and/or delete themselves. Also, while the formating and layout seems ok in the draft, when I publish, some photos disappear or are off center.

    Help?!

The easiest way to do this is to upload them centered in each post, with a line between them.. Otherwise, as you’ve seen, it can get complicated.

    Hi there,

Yes, I’ve tried that too. I’ve attempted to add a centered ” – ” (if I don’t want to write something), or I’ll center a line of text underneath the image for separation, but the problem still comes up.

Is there a better theme I should be using to showcase images in posts?

    Thanks!!!

I strongly prefer to use an HTML table for multiple images. Then I can place them exactly as I want. Align Images: HTML Tables for WordPress Blogs

Your problem is not theme related. Simply create an HTML table (you can use a generator online – or code one – it’s easy to do) then you have complete control, rather than mucking about and struggling to align them.

I’ll check out the “Align Images: HTML Tables for WordPress Blogs” link that you recommended. Thank you so much for your response!

In my opinion tables will be an unnecessary complication. When you say “pictures one-right-after-another” you mean full size images just with no text between them, or images side-by-side?

As for captions: After you insert a captioned image you must make sure your cursor is outside the captioned area before doing anything else. And you cannot highlight the captions and edit them using the tools of the editor.

    Hi panaghiotisadam,

Yea, tables are a bit confusing… I’m still trying to figure them out.

Yes – I meant full-size images that are centered and vertically aligned, like in this blog here: http://www.m-dashing.com/home/2011/8/1/scenes-from-the-cape.html.

However, I would like to add sources if need be, so the option to have text underneath an image would be awesome.

[thanks for the tip about the captions – I’ve been following those rules and they don’t seem to be the issue].

    Anything else you might suggest?

If you want full-size images then you definitely don’t need tables. You simply select Size Full and Align None or Center before inserting the image. If you insert a captioned image, just make sure you click with your mouse below the image frame to get out of the caption area before continuing with whatever you want next. Messed up captioned images (like “captions and photos combine and/or delete themselves”) happens only if you don’t observe those two rules – there’s nothing else.

For more, start a new thread if and when you publish a post that’s not ok so we can see it and tell you what’s wrong with it.

awesome – thanks for the help!

I’ll continue on and see where this takes me.

If I have more trouble, I’ll start a new thread – THANKS!
