Uploaded pictures end up not showing up in gallery, only as a blank square.

    At least once a week, photos are uploaded to the site in batches of about 20 in png format. As of last week, randomly some photos are uploading, but show up in the gallery as an empty square, although there is nothing different that I can see from the other photos uploaded. Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this issue?

    I’ve tried clearing the browser cache and checking with other browsers, changing themes, and since I have several authors on the site, I had them also try, and it’s the same result straight across the board.

    Oh I’m using a free wordpress site.

    Does the same issue occur if you upload 10 or 5 images at a time instead of 20? Also, does it only happen with png format images?

    Do you mean they display in the media library as empty squares? If so, this is a common issue with the grid view of the media library. Since the grid view is set on infinite scroll, the easiest solution if you’re encountering the problem you describe is to switch to list view. The grid view and list view icons can be found at the top left of the media library content area, just above “Bulk Actions.”

    Hey musicdoc1,

    I’m one of the authors on the site that Voshie is talking about. We ad approx 20ish photos to most posts but they are uploaded in small chunks of between 1 and 5 photos at a time (write a piece – upload photo(s) for that piece. next paragraph, write some more then upload the photo(s) for that, rinse and repeat). It makes no difference if we upload one at a time, a small number or a large bulk lot.

    Majority of our photos are png but the odd jpeg does it as well.

    I just switched it to grid view and no change :/
