Uploading a new theme for my website

  I’m trying to upload a new theme I just bought and when I do it’s saying ‘The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css sheet. Theme installation failed.’ However, when I downloaded and opened the zipped file, I can easily find the style.css sheet. Any suggestions?
