Uploading a theme

  I have found a theme that I would like to upload to my blog. It is made by “Devpress,” which is one of the featured developers in Worpress themes. Is there a way to upload this theme (http://devpress.com/demo/james-goody/)?

  I read, “The theme upload functionality is exclusive to privately hosted blogs and sites using the WordPress.org software. This means that you cannot upload any themes to your WordPress.com blog (even if they’re available at the WordPress.org theme repository). Learn more.”

  I’m not sure what is meant by the verbiage, “exclusive to privately hosted blogs.” Please help me understand.

  Hi there – there’s a difference between blogs hosted here at WordPress.com, and blogs hosted with other providers that are using the WordPress software available for download at WordPress.org.

  Blogs hosted here cannot upload outside themes, but can use any of the over 200 themes here:
  http://themes.wordpress.com/

  Here are a few that have a similar layout to the one you’ve found:

  http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/linen/
  http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/origin/
  http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/ideation-and-intent/

  If you have your heart set on that one, though, you can move to a self-hosted site. You’ll first need to obtain web hosting. We have some recommendations here:
