Hi there. You can’t do this. The only themes we can use on WordPress.com are the ones listed here: https://wordpress.com/themes/
Themes bought elsewhere, even if they say they are WordPress themes, cannot be used there. Those themes can only be used on self-hosted WordPress.ORG websites. See here for more info: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/

Yes, I’ve just found this out! How easy is it to convert a wordpress.com blog into a wordpress.org blog? I haven’t started using the site yet so hopefully that makes it easier…. Maybe I could contact Bluehost and ask if they can delete the original .com one and let me follow the start up process again, this time selecting “.org?”

I see your domain http://www.howibeatankylosingspondylitis.com/ is already self-hosted on bluehost, so you’re actually in the wrong forum. You are already in the process of setting up a WordPress.org site. Just to be clear, it doesn’t matter whether your domain ends with .com or .org. It has to do with the software running your site, and you are on WordPress.org.
In this forum we can only help with WordPress.com blogs, so please post in the WordPress.org forum for help in installing your theme. http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.
Sorry for the confusion – I should have checked your hosting before writing my first reply.

How can I tell if I’m on wordpress.org – or are all bluehost hosted blogs run on that software? Bluehost have told me the reason I can’t upload the theme I purchased from motomarketplace is because i am .com not .org……

To be on WordPress.com you would have had to register an address that included “wordpress.com” in the URL, and then you’d have had to connect your custom domain to that URL. If you then viewed your domain’s WhoIs data you would have seen the nameservers pointing to wordpress.com
You domain’s WhoIs data shows the nameservers pointing to bluehost.com, i.e. you’re self-hosted: http://vitzo.com/en/whois/www.howibeatankylosingspondylitis.com
Additionally, when viewing a WordPress.com blog you’ll always see the phrase “Create a new blog with WordPress.com” at the bottom of the screen along with a link to the theme page, and you’ll never see a placeholder screen like your domain shows at this moment.
ON THE OTHER HAND…
I notice you have a site linked to your username: https://thebirthcentre.wordpress.com/ Is this actually the site you want to use? If so, to use that site with your custom domain, you’ll need to buy the domain mapping upgrade from that site’s dashboard (if you want to stay on WP.com), and ask Bluehost to change your name servers to wordpress.com to have your site appear on your custom domain. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/OR
If you want to move http://thebirthcentre.wordpress.com/ to WordPress.org, you’ll need to set up a hosting account with Bluehost on your custom domain, install the WordPress.org software and a theme to that domain, and transfer your content over from your WordPress.com site.
