Uploading an image

Hi, I am trying to upload a slider that is 1920×650. It is a gif and the correct size but wordpress keeps saying its not large enough, even when I’ve tried making it bigger.

The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff). It is not hosted by WordPress.com or connected with Jetpack. This site is not linked to my WordPress.com account.

  • Hi there,

Unfortunately, I am not able to see your site URL as a volunteer in the forum but can you confirm that this site is hosted by WordPress.com?

Just to clarify, we are not the only providers of WordPress sites. Third party providers, like GoDaddy or BlueHost, also host WordPress sites, but they are using the self-hosted version, often called WordPress.org. This forum is only equipped to assist WordPress.com hosted sites.

If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the WordPress software you can read this document:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

If your site indeed was built with the self hosted version of WordPress, you can find here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Staff will also be able to look at your site address and confirm this for you.

  • Hi there,

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider.

Please contact support for the slider plugin you’re using directly for help with this, or if the slider is a feature of your theme, contact support for your specific theme.

For general help with the version of WordPress you’re using, you can ask the WordPress.org community over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
