Uploading blog files to wordpress.com
-
Hi,
I was hosted by Bluehost and had my blog on wordpress. The person responisble for all the control panel work up and left, as I am not computer savy I had a hard time figuring things out. When I tried to get a back up done of the wordpress blog through my dashboard, it came back with many error messages and basically I could not get a back-up done. So I saved all my bluehost files to my hard drive and am wondering how I would now transfer them from my hard drive to my new unhosted wordpress blog.

WinZip Fileheroindi_wrdp7.sql
SQL Fileheroindi_wrdp7.XML
XML Document
SQL Filewrdp7.sql.gz (zipped)
Thanks and a Happy New Year to you.

The backup file from bluehost is a complete backup of your blog there including the database and all wordpress and such files. Basically everything that is yours on that host. It cannot be imported here at wordpress.COM.
If the blog was a wordpress blog at bluehost, you will have to export the blog from the wordpress dashboard which will create an XML file which you can then import into your blog here. The only thing that will not be included is links, but the links can be imported from your other blog from your new blog here.
Also note that any images you have uploaded and used at bluehost, will not be included in the export. You will have to move those files over manually, and then you will have to go through your posts and correct all the links to those images.
It could be that staff could extract your posts and such from the backup file you have, but you will have to contact them directly to find out: http://support/wordpress.com/contact/ .
