Uploading downloaded them Image trouble daily motion

I’m a newbie blogger and I’m having the following issues:

    1) I went to themes.wordpress.net and downloaded a new theme I would like apply as a template to my blog. When I downloaded the theme I got a zip file that needed to be extracted and it has all the contents of the theme separated. How do I apply the new theme to my blog? Is there some specific application I have to use in order to apply it?

    2) Since my blog relies heavily on images, I need to post images and I’ve not been able to do that even after reading the faq’s on image posting. I can upload the image but when I press the ‘send to editor’ button the image doesn’t upload in my post. I’ve tried several different images and no luck. Perhaps there is something I’m not doing right b/c this doesn’t make sense that none of my images will upload. Do I need to start with a blank post first? Please please help!

    3) I can embed youtube videos, but not daiymotion. I’ve read the faq’s on posting dailymotion videos and looking for the value code in the emmbed info, but I’m confused as to where the [dailymotion id= ] is supposed to code once the numeric part is entered.

If you are hosted here at wordpress.com, you cannot upload themes you find on the web. The only themes available are in your dashboard under presentation > themes.

Is the visual rich text editor turned on (users > your profile and put a checkmark in the box next to “use visual rich text editor). You can insert images either after you write the text, or before if it is going to be the first thing in the post. If you are inserting the photo after the text has been put into the post, then place the cursor where you want the text and then use the “browse all” button in the upload area, find the image, make the selections and insert it. Is there any sort of error message below the upload section? Note that if you are using the code editor and insert an image using “send to editor” it will simply insert the URL of the image and not the actual image. If you preview the post, the image should then show up.

Yes you can use dailymotion videos here: http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/01/19/how-do-i-post-a-dailymotion-video/

    1) I’ve seen blogs using the themes at wordpress.net so there must be a way to use them. Why can I download the theme but not do anything with it. That’s weird to me.

2)The visual rich text editor is enabled and the images are still not showing up in my initial post while I’m writing it. Something is definitely not right in that regard and nee dto figure out why none of the images I try to upload to m post show up.

    3) For dailymotion vids, I’ve already viewd the link you provided for the faq’s. I’m confused a sto where the changed link that includes the value code should go. Does the new id go directly into the post like youtube or should I embed in the upload video portion and include in the url?

I know I can embed daily motion videos but I’m having trouble doing so even after reading the faq’s on it. I think the ending is confusing because it doesn’t mention where I should embed the new daily motion id code. Should it be inserted into the post directly like you can for youtube or into the video upload section where the url goes?

First off, what is the URL of your wordpress.com blog?

There are two wordpresses. This one, the free-hosted blogging service, wordpress.com. You cannot upload themes or plugins here. You cannot use flash, javascript, forms or iframes.

There are also self-hosted blogs using the software downloaded from wordpress.org. Those blogs can use the themes downloaded off of the web. If you are self-hosted using the software downloaded from wordpress.org, you are in the wrong forum. You need to inquire over at http://wordpress.org/support/ . With a self-hosted blog you can do pretty much anything you want, themes, javascript, iframes, flash, plugins.

On the images, I’m not sure what you are doing. Let’s figure out first (from the above) whether you are hosted here at wordpress.com or self-hosted.
