Uploading HTTP error that FTP doesn't get around.

Uploading relatively large files has been a common problem for me and usually I keep trying when I get HTTP error messages until I eventually succeed. But I have a 14.5kb PDF file that will not upload even 1%.

My host’s technical support is very poor and previously they advised increasing the max file size to 512mb and using Filezilla to FTP files. I have successfully transferred the file using FTP, and another for test purposes, but my media library will not show these files. They are in the same folder as files I previously loaded in the normal way and can see in my library.

I asked a friend to try to upload the file to their WordPress site and it worked for them, so why is this file such a problem for me? I’ve also deleted files to make more space but that is clearly not the problem.

Any help is much appreciated as I need to get this file online and my host hasn’t responded to my written request for help.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Looks like you’re in the wrong forum. It appears that you’re using the self-hosted version of WordPress and you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums:

These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org you can read this document:
