Uploading image difficulty
-
I have created a new post (in a Word document) which I then copy and paste into my blog editing space. But when I upload all that appears is the title (I just wanna swim with a polar bear). I have tried several times but still nothing. Can someone offer me advice, please? Thank you. David.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your computer is not a server. Any images on it must be uploaded into the blog ie. onto WordPress.com servers.
You can upload image files by clicking the Add Media button right above the editing area of a page or a post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/
See also http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/04/26/images-the-three-link-options/
You can edit any post or page and add images to it.

Microsoft Word is a word processing program that’s not compliant with web standards. The result of copy and pasting from Microsoft Word into the Tiny MCE editor in WordPress blogs can be unexpected, and contain a lot of formatting code that’s not compliant unless you know how to use the built-in features in the Visual editor for using Word cleanly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text
Note you need to click the kitchen sink icon #15 at the end of Row 1 to have Row 2 appear. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-1
Go here and enable this > Settings > Writing
Formatting
_ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
“save changes”I recommend using Windows Live Writer for posting to your blog > http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/windows-live-writer/

Thank you so much for your kind help. It does feel somewhat overwhelming but I guess I just gotta learn it, eh? Hope you have a lovely day. David.

Timethief, the answer to this question comes closest to MY question, so I figured I’d try piggy-backing onto it.
I actually have 2 questions:
1) Can I blog with WordPress.com while off-line? I was recently at a hotel that did not have wi-fi and, when I tried to blog, the draft was lost. I will be away from wi-fi for the next few weeks but want to continue writing (even if it means I upload several day’s worth of blogs all at once). Is there a solution? I will be using my iPad (just to complicate things).
2) I have some video I’m trying to insert into my blog. But it is in “.avi” format which it seems WordPress won’t take. Is there a solution? I’m grabbing my video from Picasa.
Thanks for the time, I’m new at this and (kind of) enjoying the learning curve.!
