Uploading images

I have taken over running our church website and I am learning ‘on the job’ as it were. When I try to upload an image to the website, I keep getting an error message. I was able to do it when I first took over the running of the site but now it has just stopped working. I want to develop the site further and make changes but can’t do anything until I get past this. Can anyone help! Thank you and if you are able to explain in ‘lay man’s’ language, I would be really grateful.

Just realised that this has linked to a personal blog that I began to set up and not the actual church website. If you would like to see the website it is St Julians Baptist Church, Newport, South Wales.

    Hi there
What is the error you are getting? That would give anyone trying to help you a good place to start.

A search for your church brought up http://sjbaptist.com/ as the most likely web site that you might be trying to work on. If that is the case, you are asking in the wrong place. sjbaptist.com lives over at HOSTPAPA.COM and not WordPress.Com. The help given in these forums is meant for people whose pages are hosted here at WordPress.Com. A better place to obtain help for your page is https://wordpress.org/support/

There are oodles of how to use WordPress videos on YouTube. Learn.wordpress.com has excellent beginner tutorials and videos. They are meant to teach the flavor of WordPress used here at WordPress.Com, but almost all of the information should translate to WordPress powered sites hosted elsewhere.

    Hope that helps!

    Hello Dave,

Thank you so much for getting back to me and yes, very helpful!

That is the website that you found and I had no idea that it was hosted at HOSTPAPA.COM so that is useful to know! I assumed that because it uses WordPress that it was all one package with them – told you I was a ‘lay man’!

The error message is simply: An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.

Thanks again for getting back to me, I will explore some of the avenues that you have suggested.

    Thanks,

    Adrian

I am glad i was able to at least point you in the right direction. Most people see WordPress and make the assumption that it is all the same flavor! Thank you fro getting back to us, Happy Easter, and good luck!
