Uploading images

I go to the images file in my archive. I drop it in the media section. It just says “1 file could not be supported”
Help please.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

OK this is driving me insane. All my blog entries are in reverse order and I cannot upload any images. Please help. I’ve had enough after being on this site for 3 hours.
Why did you have to kill travelpod? -
4 hours later….nothing. I feel my travelpod has been destroyed. After half a day’s work I have a load of posts in reverse order, no images, no differentiation between trips…and no help.
-
By default all WordPressdotcom posts are listed from the newest at the top to the oldest at the bottom. This ensures that your site visitors see the latest first.
If you wish to reverse the order you can follow this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/show-your-posts-in-chronological-order/
In order to upload images, you can use the Add Media>Upload button in each post or bulk upload directly to your Media Library and insert each image in the correct post. https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/
I’ve tagged this for Staff assistance so to help with the
<![CDATA[remark appearing in place I assume of your images. -
I’m sorry but I cannot add media, photos or anything. I have nonsensical things appearing on my site where pictures should be and the whole thing is a mess. Feel free to look at my page.
-
-
I cannot reverse the order, I cannot upload images, I’ve tried everything you have said.
Please advise.
-
I am willing to hand over my computer to you because I do not believe what you are saying makes sense or will work.
-
All you have done is ruin nearly 2 years work of mine. I apologise if you feel affronted, I hope you understand why I’m so annoyed.
-
I’m sorry you’re having trouble but Travelpod closing down isn’t WordPress.coms fault and volunteers here familiar with the workings of WordPress.com have little experience of Travelpod. The two platforms function differently. There are bound to be some compromises to be made. You have managed to import the words of your Travelpod site. According to this:
http://www.travelpod.com/blog/2017/05/15/wordpress-import-intructions/
the images have to be transferred to your WordPress.com Media Library and then inserted into each post one by one (at which point you could remove the “CData” error message). Have you managed to get any images into your Media Library? Have you copies of those images on your PC that you could load directly into your WordPress.com posts? That would be the easiest solution.PS: Your posts here are showing up newest first, which is the default setting for WordPress.com blogs.

Dear JustJennifer
I tried what you said in order to get my posts in chronological order. I failed. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I added the date I want them from – Sept 2008, with the addition of the order=asc bit – and it just tells me I havent published any posts yet. Except it says I have 283 published posts.
As I have my pictures on my computer on Picassa I am prepared to forego that bit if only I could reverse the order of posts. I also don’t understand how I am meant to split the blogs up and give them the 4 names (there are 4 blogs).
In fact, I feel pretty useless, sorry. Any more help appreciated.
-
Wow, hold the front page. I managed to put them in chronological order. Thank you and sorry for being computer illiterate. I still can’t import any pictures but hey…
-
Hello again, I’m sorry to hear this is being more difficult than it should be.
I added the date I want them from – Sept 2008, with the addition of the order=asc bit – and it just tells me I havent published any posts yet. Except it says I have 283 published posts.
When I click this link https://planetgelistravelblog.wordpress.com/2008/09/?order=asc your posts for September 2008 appear in reverse order (oldest to newest) Does that not happen for you when you click the link?
In order to display that sort order on your site, you’ll need to add that link to a Custom Menu so that it appears in the navigation bar at the top of your site or in a Custom Menu widget in your sidebar.
I also don’t understand how I am meant to split the blogs up and give them the 4 names (there are 4 blogs).
Meaning you uploaded four different TravelPod sites into one WordPressdotcom site? Was that what you wanted or did you want 4 different WordPressdotcom sites?
Everything at the moment seems overwhelming. For right now, I would concentrate on uploading your images and getting them into your posts and then wait for Staff assistance to remove the extraneous code that appears in your posts.
Once you have that set up, we can then move to helping you with sorting out your blogs and the reverse display order.
-
Oh, excellent!
If you have the images in a Picasa album, you can download them to your computer and then import them directly to the media library following the guide I linked to earlier https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/
Let us know about the 4 different blogs, though.
-
You’re right, I am completely overwhelmed.
About the blogs…I had 4 separate trips ranging over 8 years or so. Everything is just one long list of chapters now (all trips combined). Each trip I had on travelpod had a name.
But really, I can’t do this. I’m feeling stupider by the minute. I just looked at the Custom menu widget blah blah and my head has just fallen off. And uploading just one picture into the picture library seemed to take ages…bearing in mind I probably have hundreds of pics.
It’s all too much, sorry. It hasn’t been a great week. I was made redundant from a job I loved on Friday and I can’t take much more feeling inadequate right now. Thank you, you’ve been very kind.
-
I’m terribly sorry this has been so rough on you on all levels. Why not walk away from the site set up for awhile and then come back when you are ready to tackle it again. We’ll still be here.
In the meantime, if you want to keep your site out of search engines and away from public view, you can change your site’s Privacy settings to Private on this page https://wordpress.com/settings/general/planetgelistravelblog.wordpress.com Scroll down a bit until you see Privacy and then click “Private” and “Save Settings.”
Best wishes for the future.

HI there,
As @themagicrobot mentioned above, Travelpod works completely differently from WordPress.com, and you’re not going to figure out all of WordPress.com in a few hours.
Please take some time to work through our tutorial first, so you know how everything works:
You can separate your posts into four different trips again by using category pages. Edit each post to contain the category you want it grouped under, and then add the link for that specific category to your menu, adding the bit at the end to make it show oldest posts first.
The tutorial will teach you all about adding categories, and setting up menus. And if you get stuck with anything specific, let us know and we can help.

@kokkieh – thanks for adding that. :) The original reason I tagged this thread for Staff was for assistance in removing the extraneous data tag that appears in every post. See my above reply https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/uploading-images-64?replies=18#post-2955095 Thanks

Removing something like that from a site globally is a tricky task, and as likely to ruin the existing content as to fix it, so our devs try not to do that. Given that this migration has already been stressful and frustrating, I hesitate to suggest something that might force @planetgelistravelblog to go through the whole process again.
As it’s necessary in this case to go through the posts to add the images and assign categories in any case, it would be safer to just manually delete that text at the same time from the editor.
