Uploading Media error for "security reasons"
-
I am getting the “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.” when ever I try to upload an image. The images are in allowed extension (.jpg, .jpeg, .png) I’ve had success uploading images before so I’m not sure what’s going on. Thanks.

I’ll flag this thread for staff attention. Please be patient as they go through threads in time order and can take a while to reach each one.

It sounds like the file still looks like a .tiff to your library when you try to upload it. How are you converting the files?
-
On Mac: Get Info-> Name & Extension, changing the end from .tiff to .png.
The system asks “Are you sure you want to change the extension from “.tiff” to “.png”?” then clicking yes.
I’ve gotten it to work before. If this way doesn’t work, how else would I insert clips from a excel file?

You don’t change the extension, really.
You need a editor program (Photoshop, Gimp, etc) for that.
-
You can embed a Google Doc spreadsheet into your site directly. That might work better:
Could you give that a shot and see if it works for you?
If not, do you have any experience with Gimp? It might be overkill, but it’s open source photo editing software that would let you export a .TIFF file to .jpg or .png more cleanly.

I did get that to work through Google Docs, but its bigger than I want. I was hoping to have it more like a picture than publishing a whole spreadsheet.
I don’t have experience with Gimp, but I’ll look into it.
-
If you don’t have experience with Gimp, try with other more easy. There are a lot (free):
-
Thanks! I got it to work. Gimp is certainly above my knowledge level, but I could upload an image that was previously blocked by opening in Gimp and exporting in an approved format.
Thanks for both of your help. -
