Uploading Mp3s
-
I just read about the new feature for uploading and using mp3 audio files on our blogs. Id really like to know a little more about it. How do you upload these files to make name that you use? [audio:————].

Do you mean bare MP3’s, or Odeo? Odeo will let you host MP3’s as well, without putting them in a podcast.

No recommendations from me, I’m afraid. I’ve got a website hosted elsewhere & had some free space there that I used to upload my mp3s.

Thanks Vivian. Re-reading it I find :
There is a file size limit of 25MB on uploaded files. I hope that will satisfy most needs but if you need to upload larger files, please send us feedback. Even if you haven’t got the space upgrade, everyone can use the new audio tag to play mp3 files from anywhere on the Internet.
This seems to say that anyone can use the MP3 upload feature. This should be very cool. I wish I’d had access to this when I had access to the Christmas Rhapsody soundfile. Oh well.

50 megs is ok, but I can’t upload mp3 and ogg files: wordpress engine says that “File type does not meet security guidelines. Try another.”
File extension is .mp3
File size if 1 368 421 bytes
My location is 91.122.17.204 /RU -
borr – the 50 meg is for all uploads, as I understand it. So if you already have space taken up with pics and other files, maybe you can’t upload?
Or perhaps you need to send feedback (they are closed over the weekend) if you have the space and the file is less than 25 meg in size.
Oh – and sorry for the bad info on the uploading. Yes, the files can be uploaded but it seems to me that you’ll run out of space PDQ.

You know Vivian, I think your interpretation was right. Re-reading it it says that you can PLAY MP3’s “hosted anywhere on the net” but not that you can upload them.
I’d suggest Odeo for MP3 storage. The podcasting thing is damn glitchy and failed totally over Christmas (thanks alot, guys!) but the MP3 upload process itself is smooth.

RC – I just re-read that, too, and I agree. The space upgrade seems to be required for uploading those files.
I used Odeo once for a podcast and then gave up. But if it is good for hosting files, the price is certainly right ;)
