Uploading old WordPress archive

  I saved an old sites worth of blogs, from a wordpress site, and recently saw that we can now upload archives to our blogs. The d’load was in a .sql format and the uplaod, I think asked for something different. All the same I did the upload and did not receive any error messages. So assuming it might have uploaded successfully…..where is it now?

  It didn’t work like that. We can’t do *.sql uploads here at wp.com since they would bypass the security filters.

  Best bet is to ask staff via feedback. This is a backend issue which we can’t help with here in the forums but they have been known to do this for folks.

  What I did was use a plug-in to export my blog as Moveable Type and then imported that into WordPress.com It was largely successful, but you’ll need to check your comments as it couldn’t cope with a lot of them. I think it’s been said the forthcoming WP release will have a better export function.
