Uploading photos errors

I am BRAND new to blogging and website design, and am having trouble uploading photos. I am getting various error messages, including security, and that my photos don’t end correctly, eg .jpeg. I have tried finding answers online, but the answers seem to just lead me to have more questions. I have a very simple site, and blog, and am just trying to add some pictures, but for some reason it isn’t working anymore. Any help out there for an absolute noob? As if you were speaking to a child, or a lay person. If you use computer terminology, I just have more questions. Thanks in advance, and if you need any more info please let me know.

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We’re only able to help with sites hosted on our servers at WordPress.com – you have that site connected to WordPress.com through the Jetpack plugin, which allows you to manage certain aspects of the site through our tools, but we have no control over how your site itself works.
Please ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using:
