Uploading Pictures

I have been uploading pictures for some while, but now my box that you put the code into goes blank and won’t store the picture any more. Why is this and is there anything I can do about it? Many thanks, Sue –

    Hi there,

Can you walk me through all the steps you’re taking? In particular, I’m not sure I understand what you mean by the box you’re putting code into.

    I’m happy to help!

Thank you for getting back to me.
When I have been putting pictures into my posts I have been finding them on the Internet. Then double clicking on them. Then clicking on the view image button. I have then gone into WordPress and my post. Placed the cursor where I want the picture to go and have clicked Add Media icon. I would then click on Add Via URL and copy into the box corresponding to that. The picture then would be put into my library.
This doesn’t happen anymore, it just goes back to the post – and I think I must have forgotten some vital bit…but can’t think what it is…very frustrating as makes the blog rather dull…If you can help – would greatly appreciate it!
    Many thanks.

    Oh, I see.

That’s not really recommended if you don’t run the server that actually hosts those images. So long as you’re authorized to do so, it’s better to save the images on your computer, and upload them via Add Media.

That way, if the original image is ever changed or removed, it’ll still remain on your site.
