Uploading Problems *please help!*

    The screen DOES go black for a few seconds (up to half a minute for me) when you upload things. That’s what happens when the Uploading box is opening. If you can’t wait it out because it never happens, then contact support:
    http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

    In the meantime, the suggested workaround for that is to register an account at Photobucket or Flickr and upload images there. The NEW PROBLEM is that without code there is no longer a way to insert them into the blog.

    That’s a big problem.

    To insert them, you will need to click to the code editor and use the html code:

    <img src="URLofUploadedPhoto">

    Ugly, but it is literally the only way right now. I hope staff puts in an easier way to do this, because the Upload pop-up simply does not work with all systems.

    Rain’s way works a treat, but let me emphasize you don’t have to do any coding. Using Photobucket as an example:

    To get the url, use the 2nd option under the image in photobucket called “direct link.” Just click within in and it will be automatically copied for you.

    In your post, in HTML view, put the cursor where you want the image and click on the toolbar tab that says ‘img’. It’s the 7th from the left. A box will pop up, just as it does when inserting a link in visual mode, for you to insert the url. Do so and click Okay.

    The next box gives you a chance to insert a description. If you wish to bypass this, just click Okay. If you enter something, it will be the alt tag — what’s called ‘caption’ in the flash uploader.

    In either case, this is all it takes. Now you can switch to Visual, if you wish, and you can click on the image and either use the mountain icon that appears on it or use the paragraph icons for further alignment.

    That’s true. And Photobucket gives you the embedding code, too. I think it’s third option down, the one that starts with pointy brackets and img src. Just paste that puppy in whole.

  • Unknown's avatar

    It is the 3rd option in Photobucket but it starts with square brackets, so merely pasting that into the editor won’t return anything but [url]. Why should the seemingly-obvious work? ;)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Okay, so it’s the fourth one? DOn’t make me sign in and check. I just know it’s one of the codes it provides.

  • Unknown's avatar

    No, it’s the 2nd one. Direct Link.

    You’re right. How stupid, the second gives you the URL, like this:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/raincoaster/TIA.jpg
    and you can use that if you add the code by hand.

    The third gives you the embed code, like this:
    <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v22/raincoaster/?action=view&current=TIA.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/raincoaster/TIA.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
    Which you can use ONLY if you strip out the first bit, the
    <a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v22/raincoaster/?action=view&current=TIA.jpg" target="_blank">
    and the
    </a>
    at the end. What a pain in the butt!

  • We just pushed out some bug fixes that should take care of the Insert into Post bug where the media window turns white. Can everyone try it out and let us know if you still have problems?

    @rain – Total pain. That’s the appeal for me of using the second p’bucket one with the IMG button – paste, click, click, done.

    I love the path of least resistance.
