Uploading theme issue – runs into 'link has expired' message

I’m uploading the Shadower Pro theme (about 15.5mb filesize) to a website and ran into an error message “the link you followed has expired”. On looking up the issue (which is apparently common?) I followed advice to change my PHP settings, so they currently sit at:

    max_execution_time 300
    max_input_time 1000
    memory_limit 256MB
    post_max_size 64MB
    upload_max_filesize 128MB

I also checked that WP is updated to the latest version (5.2.2.), and tried uploading in an incognito tab to make sure there’s no errant cookies or something. But still running into the same message.

I also noticed that when I checked the max file upload size on WP it’s still displaying as 8MB max, after the settings update.

Currently checking the PHP version is up to date (7.3), I’m out of ideas to try – any advice?

  • Sounds like you actually need help for a WordPress powered site, not a site hosted at WordPress.com. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are a little separate, and that can be confusing.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You’ll want to use the forums at https://wordpress.org/support/ for any support on managing your site. Hope that helps to point you in the right direction!
