Uploading to media library

  I am trying to upload a 143 mb pdf in the media library. It is not working. I have tried both the bulk uploader and the single browser upload.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I have gotten a brief “http error” sometimes but usually the thumbnail with the solid blue line that increaes from left to right just disappears when it is almost complete, displaying the next thumnail.

  It is a pdf; I need to keep it intact so I can’t make it smaller.

  I don’t know that much about speeds. My account here is through Spectrum (Charter) so it’s one of the fastes around. Also I tried it on another laptop.

  No–that’s not on the same sight. Thanks for trying to help but I was able to compress the file and upload it to the site.

  Hey @rasavary,

  Sorry to interrupt but I’m curious to know how did you compress the file? Did you compress it as a zip and then uploaded?

  or did you use a tool to reduce the size of pdf? :)

  I used a site called smallpdf.com. It was free, though I am uncertain as to how many files you can do for free. Afterward, the techy who had converted the site I manage told me there are other free sites that compress files. The site has anarea where you click on download, enter your file, and after several seconds it gives you a new download–smaller. Mine was compressed from a 142 mb file to a 53 mb file. I had encrypted the file with a password so the conversion was unsuccessful at first. I redid the conversion wth the original file and the conversion was successful. Then I encrypted the file again before uploading to my site.

  By using my gmail email adress to sign up, wordpress forum automatically linked to my personal stuff. I apologize for the confusion–I probably should have known better.

  I became aware of this after viewing the automatic: “The blog I need help with is so and so.wordpress.com” at the bottom of everyone’s post.
