uploading to my blog
-
I would like to know if I can set up my blog so that 1>others can upload files (pdf mostly). i.e. contest entries. But entries would not be seen by the general public just admin.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That will not work on a WordPress.com site. How did you think it would?
Stop giving advice that only confuses people.

Ignore the spammer (miraslow). He’s just been report to the ToS folks as spamming the forums is against the ToS here.

@dzzki – The only way you would be able to do so on WordPress.com is to invite people to be an Author on your site. That would give them upload capabilities. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
Perhaps easier, you could set up a dropbox or box.com folder instead and direct your contestants there.

So you are saying, as I feared, that wordpress is not capable even at the premium level of doing up loads to the site. The drop box could work, I’ll have to see if there is a widget for that or something. I am familiar with box.com.
Thanks for taking the time. -

As noted above – only Authors and up can upload content – security & reliability issue

You’re welcome.
No, there’s no upgrade that changes who can upload to your site. You’d have to add every person as at least an Author in order for them to be able to upload media to your site.
There’s no dropbox widget for WordPress.com, (don’t we wish! Suggest it in the Ideas forum). box.com does have a widget here
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/boxnet-widget/Unless things have changed in the past year, even if you have a paid box.com account, you will need to create the folder/widget you want to place on your WordPress.com site following the instructions in that Support doc, as it is different from the widget you can create directly on box.com. Those use iframes, which will be stripped out here.
Also, in order to upload on box.com, your users will need to register for a free account there.
