uploading Word docs to my blog
-
Is it possible to upload MSWord docs (or PowerPoint presentations or PDF files)? I’ve searched My Dashboard but can’t find any leads.
-
Yes you can upload pdf files. Yes you can upload ppt files. This is done the same way you upload images. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/16/how-do-i-upload-pictures/
These are the files you can upload jpg, jpeg, png, gif, pdf, doc, ppt only. -

Agreed (Gotta admit that I like the idea as well) but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. Lots of security issues come to mind.

Hmm, minutes ago, i had the same problem uploading zip or rar files. I don’t want to panic but what does it mean if Mark said that “.zip may be added in the future”? *gg*
And what is the security issue in zip files? Many cool projects use them, why shouldn’t get wordpress.com bloggers the option to upload archiv files, too?best regards :)

Mean exactly what it says. *.zip support maybe added in the future.
And what is the security issue in zip files?
You’ve never had a virus in a zip file that you’ve downloaded? Have enough folks trying to passout warez here as well.

Hmm, but uploading on blogspace isn’t a typical way to publish warez. It isn’t very difficult to find safer spaces for critical contents. ( http://www.google.de/search?q=file+hoster )
And you can bind maleware in some cases with *.doc or Powerpoint Files too. :)Zip files are mostly just opened if you start them. A modified Word document and a wrong Word version could be auto opened from browser!
regards :P

To you and me it’s not but that isn’t stopping folks around here from doing it. Reported three just today.

3 today? Hmm. ok, thats an argument. On the other Side, there seems to be 739,500 blogs on WordPress.com. With this fact its amazing less….
but i hope, that wp.com work&argument fast, find the right way, and allow archive files :P
best regards

The 3 was just warez. Didn’t count the spam sites, the mature sites, the broken youtube ones, etc.
I don’t spend my entire day here either. Just seems that way.
