Upper interface won't scroll down

    Hello!

I first posted on the French speaking forum but since all suggested suggestions didn’t work I was advised to post here. My current problem is that I’ve been using wordpress.com hosting for more than 5 years and I love it, yet over the last days busy with updating and amending about 300 articles I’ve met an odd display problem.

When scrolling down my articles the upper interface will not be displayed as if it was a mere header. However I’m pretty sure that usually it would ALWAYS keep beeing displayed even though I should reach any lower part of my article. I can make the same comment regarding the right column with the “update” button. What annoys me now is that when I select some text I need to scroll all the way back to the beginning of my article to reach all layout options such as bold, italic, font size, colour and so on… :/

I’ve been using Firefox 85.0.1 (updated this very morning) and keep using private navigating. Hence cache and cookies are automatically deleted when I quit. I unsuccessfully repaired my browser, made sure that javascript was enabled but I won’t make any difference… oh by the way I keep using the “classic editor” because I like it better than the “block editor”.

that’s it, maybe someone can help, otherwise I will keep clicking the white arrow on top of screen to reach the page header swiftly but it’s quite a pain with so many articles.

Thank you for your help and for hosting my blog !

  • Hi there,

I’ve been using Firefox 85.0.1 (updated this very morning) and keep using private navigating. Hence cache and cookies are automatically deleted when I quit.

Our editing tools rely on the ability to store a “login cookie” to make sure that you have the correct permissions to edit content on your site. If you are blocking cookies this can cause issues when editing.

With this in mind can you turn cookies back on (or whitelist cookies for WordPress.com) and see if this helps?

Also, as a test what if you edit in a different browser such as Chrome or Internet Explorer/Edge. If you use something other that Firefox does the issue go away?

    Thanks for the additional info!

    Hello!

Thank you for the fast reply! I added WordPress.com to Firefox whitelist but couldn’t see any changes. Of course once the site added, I closed the browser and restarted it. No luck.

I downloaded Chrome and it works fine with it! So clearly it comes either from the latest build of Firefox or from some setting… Will make more tests on my side, thank you for your help and support!

Oh and by the way I know that using the classic editor can lead to troubles as at some point you will somehow remove it but I’m really not fond of the block editor.
