Urdu not set as RTL in GlotPress?

  • Hi Team,

    I’ve been trying to translate strings to Urdu and noticed the incorrect format of translated strings in the text area, particularly when HTML tags like <strong> are involved in the original string.

    I checked other RTL languages like Arabic and Hebrew, and they were displaying the translated strings with HTML tags just fine. I dug more and compared the source code of the table that lists the strings on Urdu page vs. Arabic and Hebrew.

    Table of the other RTL languages have this attribute:
    <table id="translations" class="translations clear translation-sets-rtl">

    While that of Urdu has no rtl attribute set. Similar to non-RTL language pages:
    <table id="translations" class="translations clear">

    This led me to believe Urdu is not set as RTL in GlotPress. Can this be fixed?

  • I’d really appreciate if a Staff member can take a look?

    This should be fixed now – sorry for the delay!

  • Awesome. Format of the translated strings is fine now. Many thanks!

    Also, I’m noticing there aren’t many contributors and validators for Urdu.

    Gravatar and simplenote don’t yet have Urdu added. WordPress.com with 3% done has many strings still in Waiting.

    I’ve already added some translations, aiming to translate all, will it be possible for you to add me as a validator and also add support for Urdu in the projects that don’t have it yet?

  • Hi, just following up – you’ve got Urdu for Simplenote now, and it’s in Gravatar as well. Let us know if you need more help!
