URGENT: access to admin email (transfer domain to siteground)
-
Hi, i’m trying to transfer my domain to siteground and i already got the EPP code.
However, i would need to have access to this admin email ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) to complete the process.I don’t have access to this.
How am i able to get acccess and transfer my domain? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

HI there,
If it was showing that email it means you still had private registration active when trying to transfer the domain.
I’ve confirmed that private registration is now disabled for your domain, so please try submitting the code with Siteground again.
-
Hi, thanks a lot for the quick response. I tried doing but it’s still asking the same thing (access to the admin email).
Please see screenshot: https://snag.gy/Rv6dpt.jpgIf i click on No, the process won’t complete.
So how am i going to have access to the admin email @(email visible only to moderators and staff)? -
You cannot access that email, as that’s our registrar’s email and not the email set as the admin email on your domain. The admin email on your domain is the one you set at My Site ->Domains, and you can see that it’s also correctly showing in the domain’s Whois data here:
https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=aprilandsummer.com
This means this is a problem on Siteground’s end – the method they’re using to check this is returning the wrong info. So you will need to contact Siteground support about this.
Tell them that privacy is disabled and the domain is unlocked at your current registrar, and give them that Whois link so they can see the admin email address listed there is not the one their system is showing.

Hi, @kokkieh!
I encountered another problem. After initiating a transfer with siteground, the transfer was declined. I contacted siteground and they said that it’s an issue with wordpress system not approving the transfer.
I really need to get assistance to this as my domain is expiring soon and i have paid them already.

It appears that on 14 November you made a change to the first name, last name, or email address in your domain contacts. If you do this, your domain is locked for transfer for 60 days unless you specifically opt out of the lock, as explained here:
Update Contact Information for a Domain
You have two options: wait until 13 January when the lock will be removed – you may need to renew your domain, though you should still be able to transfer it at that point – or make another update to your contact info, and make sure to opt out of the lock this time. If you want to do the second option, I suggest just changing a letter in your first or last name. If you don’t receive an email after doing that containing the option to opt out of the lock, let me know. The email will arrive from donotreply @ secureserver.net
That is the only way to remove the transfer lock, and only the domain owner can make these changes, so this isn’t something I can do for you.
-
Thanks a lot. I just changed my contact detail and has received an email.
There was no option/button to opt out but i replied to the email requesting to be opt out of the lock.
I will wait for the response and will update here.
Thanks always for the quick support. -
It looks like you didn’t make an actual change – the contact info you submitted is exactly the same as it was before. The email containing the option to opt out of the lock only comes if you make an actual change to the contact info, and the previous lock until 13 January is still in place.
The email you replied to is the one that comes from us, not the one that comes from our registrar, and we can’t disable the transfer lock from our end. It can only be done via the opt out button in the email that comes from donotreply[at]secureserver.net when you make an actual change to the first name, last name, or email address in your domain contacts.
Try updating the contact info and make an actual change, for example, change the spelling of your name from April to Aprill with two l’s. That should be enough to trigger the email from our registrar with the option to opt out of the lock.

Oh, i’m sorry i wasn’t able to follow well. I just updated exactly as you said and opted out of lock.
Also got a confirmation email that it would take 5 days.I tried initiating the transfer with siteground again but i got an error msg that the authorization code is not valid anymore.
Does this mean i will be given another authorization code (EPP)?
Should i also wait for 5 days before initiatting again?
Thank you always for assisting me with this. -

Once the update has gone through, request a new transfer code from My Site ->Domains, and then resubmit it at Siteground.
I see our registrar still shows your domain as locked at the moment. I’ll check again later today, and let you know once it no longer shows as locked.

Hello! Upon checking, my name has been updated. I just requested an EPP code again (since the previous one doesn’t work anymore) and initiated another transfer with Siteground.
Maybe you will receiving the request in your end where it has to be approved?I will let you know once i get another email on how it goes.
Thank you so much again every time. -
Did you request the code again from My Site ->Domains? It doesn’t show that in our logs. Our registrar’s control panel also shows your domain is still locked, but if you’ve received a new code it might just still be cached on their end.
Let me know if it fails at Siteground again, or if it succeeds :)
-
Yes, i requested and got a new one through email.
Hmm, i’m confused. I will let you know as soon as i get a result from them
Thank you! -
@Kokkeih
Hello again!
I’m almost losing hope with this but thank you always. >_<
They said the transfer was declined…maybe because my domain is still locked?
May i ask a favor?
Can you let me know here if the my domain is finally unlocked?
That time, i will initiate another transfer with Siteground.About the EPP code, shall i request again once my domain is unlocked? (because maybe the EPP i got now will not be valid anymore.

Hi April,
Our registrar is having technical difficulties, so I can’t log into their system to check right now, but as soon as that’s resolved I’ll check and then follow up with them via email to ask if it’s possible to remove that lock.
