[URGENT] Cusotmize and Additional CSS Error

    Good day!

    A WordPress site that I’m maintaining will not allow me to access the Customize and Additional CSS functions. The resulting pages would come up empty or with the error message, ‘Error Thrown. Call to a member function preview() on null’

    I hold an administrator role on the site. We have lost touch with the original developer of the site. The site is hosted on WordPress and has the Jetpack plugin installed. It’s running on version 5.9.2 (but it’s had this problem since it was passed onto me in 2020) and on the theme IIEducate (iieducate) 1.0a, with the parent theme Newspaper 4.6.1.

    Please advise me on how to get these functions to work, or if they are restricted and what reasons why. Thank you!

    Hi there,

    Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider.

    Generally it’s up to the theme whether it supports the Customizer and Additional CSS features, which means this is most likely something broken in the theme. Please contact support for the theme directly for help with this.

    If this is a custom theme as well, and you no longer have contact with the developer who made it, you can try asking the WordPress.org community, who makes the WordPress software, over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.
